changes

I finally made the leap a couple of weeks ago and quit my job to be home with Oscar. It was something that I'd been wanting to do for awhile, so it felt surreal when it was actually happening. I told myself when I graduated from college that I would only do engineering for 3 to 5 years before switching to something design-related. It's hard to believe I'd been driving to the same building and doing pretty much the same kind of work for almost 10 years.

The last couple of weeks have been nice. It's nice to be able to start dinner early, go grocery shopping during the day, and to finally get my little corner of the office set up so I can work on getting the store back up and running. Life feels less rushed, and I love that I have more time with Oscar. There are challenges of course, and I know there will be good days and bad days, but right now I'm feeling pretty thankful.

Congratulations on the change! It was very hard for me when I left my corporate job too. Can't wait to see new things in your shop!

Most of my friends who left their job for home or babies never regretted their decision. I'm sure this will be a wonderfully new journey for you.

My wife quit her job to stay home with our boys and she has never regretted it for one second.
There is something to be said for the time she gets to spend with them everyday.
Now they are in 2nd and 3rd grade and she is able to take the time to help out at school and he a homeroom parent. She loves it!
She gets to go on the field trips. It's amazing.
I'm kind of jealous :\

She found several things to do part time for work that she can totally flex with. If it's what you really want, it will all work out in the end.
Don't sweat the small stuff!

Hi Wendy!
My friend sent me a link to your blog with a comment "it's your parallel universe!!!".

I live in LA with my husband and my daughter who is turning one! Just left big consulting gigs to spend time with her... and having happy time prepping for the stripe birthday party (in salmon pink!) I also have an online shop too...

... so I was really glad to have found your blog since you share some of the spirits in life!

Good luck with your work/life transition, the online shop and everything else in between. I am sure it will be fantastic!
