Lately I've been looking for inspiration to furnish and decorate our new place. I keep gravitating towards the images in a book I got from Kinokuniya awhile back. I have no idea what the title is, but it's basically filled with Japanese home tours. I love how simple, functional, and organic these homes look. More and more I'm appreciating decor that doesn't just look pretty, but is real and reflects everyday life.

yay, how fun :) I've been reading apartment therapy, now wishing for a place of my own. Maybe someday!
Love all aspects of Japanese design - and these rooms are no exception!
Yes, I do love Japanese homes, too. I miss the tatami bedroom we had when we lived there. And you're right--the key is keeping things simple and organic--so peaceful!
Japanese homes are so interesting because they're so teeny tiny. I love the idea of having only the essentials in your home. So peaceful!
I agree...sometimes pretty alone just isn't practical.
